Why Film in South Africa?

It would be hard to find a better filming location than South Africa anywhere else in the world.

Anyone who has visited our country will be familiar with its spectacular natural beauty, but this is not the only factor in its favour. We have a filming infrastructure which competes with the best in the world.

Low Cost

The SA Rand has fallen in value by 50% in the past five years, making South Africa an ever more attractive location to spend your film budget.

Talented Cast

We have a diverse range of people living in South Africa and can fulfil the majority of casting requirements from extras, to characters, to actors and both local and international models.

The wide variety of ‘looks’ is matched by the availability of many international and accents, offering a flexibility few if any other international venues can match.

Experienced Crew

South Africa boasts a large pool of world class technical crew and reliable support teams who are experienced, professional and dedicated. Crew are non-unionised.

Latest Camera & Equipment

A wide range of state of the art technical equipment is available which is constantly being updated.

While almost anything a film maker can dream of is locally available, extremely specialised equipment can be shipped in if required.

Amazing Locations

South Africa is known for its remarkable natural scenery but it is hard to believe the diversity of locations available in the country.

The range of architectural styles, cityscapes and countryside is reminiscent of almost any city in the world. We offer access to the rest of Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands – Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Kenya, Malawi, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles, and more.

Fantastic Climate / Weather

The weather is conducive to filming throughout the year.

From August to May you can expect up to 14 hours of sunlight in Cape Town with an average temperature of 27 degrees Celsius in the southern region.

Between June and September the northern region is dry and sunny with temperatures averaging 16 degrees Celsius with 10 hours of sunlight. Learn more.

A choice of impressive post-production facilities is available in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
